The original text

A play in three acts and an epilogue by Harold Marsh Harwood (1874–1959)[3], it opened on . Published in London by E. Benn and in New York by Samuel French (Volume 78 of Contemporary British dramatists), both in 1930.

It was performed at the Booth Theatre, New York, from 1 November 1930 to January 1931, directed by the author.

Translations and adaptations

Twice filmed, in 1931 as The Man in Possession[4] by Sam Wood and in 1937 as Personal Property[5] by W.S. Van Dyke, with Jean Harlow and Robert Taylor. (The latter film also used the alternate title of The Man in Possession on occasion).

Performance history in South Africa

No South African performance has yet been found.
