Brendan Butler (19**-) is a South African playwright.
Not to be confused with the American or Irish film directors, both also known as Brendan Butler, or the South African winemaker by the same name.

Biography
He studied literature at the University of Cape Town.
Contribution to South African theatre, film, media and performance
Wrote Rehearsal in Progress, a play about being a parabat during the border war, which won the Amstel Playwright of the Year[1] Special Merit Award, 1983. Though never produced, the play would provide the initial seeds for the Barney Simon workshop production of Black Dog-Inj'emnyama!, and particularly the character "Raymond" in it.
