Biography
Born on a farm in the Oudtshoorn district, he studied drama at the University of Cape Town, and while there entered the film world, initially as an actor and later as producer for a while. He met his wife, film director Delphine Brêmond in this period and they later moved to France, soon after the birth of their son, Solen, in 2005. There he entered the restaurant business as a restaurantier (Karoo in Mallemort and My Food in Paris and My Braai in Montreuil have been some of his restaurants), and out of this gradually evolved his Kobus Braai business as a braai (barbecue) specialist and caterer sets up his custom-made mobile barbecue at fêtes, functions and outdoor events.
He has published three cookbooks, the latest in 2018 (Le Braai: Braai with a bit of je ne sais quoi, Penguin Random House).

He was head of Ballistic Pictures
Film involved with include Killer Instinct (Set Decoration, 1989) Indaba (line producer of 25 episodes, 1996) and Lars von Trier's The King Is Alive (line producer, 2000), Dr. Lucille (producer, 2001).
