Christmas Boxes is a farce in one act by Augustus Mayhew (1826-1875)[1] and Henry Sutherland Edwards (1829–1906)[2].

The original text

First performed at the Strand Theatre, London, on 16 January, 1860. Published by Thomas Hailes Lacy in his series of Christmas plays in 1860. Also as Volume 46 of French's acting edition.

1862: Performed as Christmas Boxes by Sefton Parry and his company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, as a farewell benefit for Mrs Parry, with Who's Your Friend?, or The Queensbury Fête (Planché) and circus acts by members of Franklin's Circus.
