Nwabisa Plaatjie (1994?-) is a theatremaker, producer and curator.

Biography

Nwabisa Plaatjie was born in Ugie, Eastern Cape, and studied at the University of Cape Town. Having completed a BA (HONs) in Theatre and Performance, she is currently busy with her masters degree in theatremaking there. She joined Magnet Theatre for a year-long internship during which she created a theatre piece (23 Years, A Month and 7 Days) in 2017.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

According to an interview with Herschelle Benjamin, she is interested in "hybrid plays, interdisciplinary companies and visual arts", and writes works based on her own experiences and inspired by the world around her.

At the start of 2018 she was appointed the curator and coordinator of the Baxter Theatre's Masambe Theatre.

Her play, 23 Years, A Month and 7 Days, opened in the Baxter Theatre Flipside 13 to 24 March 2018.
