The Nasionale Afrikaanse Teater-inisiatief ("National Afrikaans Theatre Initiative", best known by its acronym NATi) is an independent, non-profitmaking organization, which aims to promote Afrikaans drama and theatre in an inclusive manner, to the benefit of the broader South African community.
It was founded in 2016 as a fund-raising and development initiative for theatre in Afrikaans, in co-operation with the Feesteforum ("Festival Forum"), i.e. Aardklop, Innibos, KKNK, Suidoosterfees, Vrystaat Kunstefees and the Woordfees, as well as independent producers, and is funded by the Dagbreek Trust.
NATi's focus is on projects that serve the theatre industry as a whole and serve to add an Afrikaans voice to the South African theatre narrative, such as Teksmark.
The chief executive officer is Cornelia Faasen.
