Biography
During World War II, Willem Jacobus Loots was a member of the Volksteater under Anna Neethling-Pohl, who directed him in Monna Vanna (1942). During this time he was also one of those interned because of their opposition to South Africa’s involvement in World War II. From the 1960s onwards he was regularly employed in the film and television industry, working more than once for directors like Emil Nofal, Gordon Vorster, Jamie Uys and Jan Perold, usually in supporting roles.
He was married twice, first in London to actress Helen Faul and, after their divorce in 1958, to Maria Patricia de Flamingh.
