(1 March 1878– 10 June 1929) Andries Gerhardus Visser was a well-known early Afrikaans poet and occasional playwright. He was popularly known as the "Sanger van die Suikerbosrand" ("Singer of the Suikerbosrand").
Visser as playwright
Under the pseudonym AV he wrote the sketch 'n Saak het twé kante ("A case has two sides") while a student at the Hugenote Gedenkschool in Paarl. (circa late 1890s). It was performed as My nooi se naam is Sarie Takhaar (Lit meaning "My girlfriend's name is Sarie Backvelder") by the C.J.V Warmwater in 1907 in Paarl.
