Contents
The organisation
A co-ordinating body set up in the 1980s to deal with joint issues of the five state funded Performing Arts Councils in South Africa. Have also found references to it as the South African Co-ordinating Council of Performing Arts Councils. The Afrikaans version of the acronym is SAKRUK.
The SACPAC Prize or SACPAC Award
A prize instituted in 1984 by SACPAC to encourage local playwriting by new as well as established playwrights. The prize is awarded to the author of the play judged to be the most suitable for staging with the highest dramatic merit and literary value. The prize was first awarded to Pieter Fourie for Die Koggelaar, award year 1985.
