In 1899 he and [[Herbert Flemming]] brought the [[Arthur Rousbey Opera Company]] to South Africa to perform a se4ason of operas in Cape Town's [[Opera House]].
 
 
 
De Jongh gave way to [[Leonard Rayne]] as lessee of the opera house in 1906(?).
