Born Johanna Maria Petronella Magrieta Beukes on the farm Stukkenddam near Keimoes, she studied proimary education at the Stellenbosch Kollege, and then became a teacher beginning at Lindeshof in Caledon, and proceeding to the Oudtshoorn Girls High School, and from 1954 Sentraal Laerskool in Bloemfontein, where she eventually became as departmental head. She was also the secretary of the OVS-Kunsvereniging (OFS Arts Association) for many years.

Lalie Beukes (1916-2009) was an Afrikaans author and playwright.


Biography

Born Johanna Maria Petronella Magrieta Beukes on the farm Stukkenddam near Keimoes, she studied proimary education at the Stellenbosch Kollege, and then became a teacher beginning at Lindeshof in Caledon, and proceeding to the Oudtshoorn Girls High School, and from 1954 Sentraal Laerskool in Bloemfontein, where she eventually became as departmental head. She was also the secretary of the OVS-Kunsvereniging (OFS Arts Association) for many years.

She passed away in Bloemfontein on 8 May 2009.

Her brother was the well known Afrikaans academic and playwright, Gerhard J. Beukes.
