De Verzamelaar, of De Onverwachte Ontmoeting is a Dutch tragedy by an unknown author.

The original text

Apparently an original Dutch play, available in the 19th century, though the only reference to a play by this specific name is found in F.C.L. Bosman (1928, p. 252).

It was most probably an adapted version of De Onverwagte Ontmoeting, of De Verzamelaar van Natuurlyke Zeldzaamheden (translated by an anonymous author, published by P. Meijer en G. Warnars, 1786), a translation of a German play - most likely to have been Der Antiquitätensammler, itself based on La Famiglia dell'Antiquario by Carlo Goldoni (1749).
