Time to Kill is a play by Monté Doyle (1926-1996).

The original text

A murder mystery, this is the original title of Doyle's first play.

Translations and adaptations

It opened in London in 1962, retitled Signpost to Murder. This text published as Signpost to Murder: a Thriller by Samuel French in 1963.

Translated into Afrikaans by Anna Meyer, entitled Misdaad Volgens Plan.

Performance history in South Africa

1961: Produced as Time to Kill by National Theatre Organisation at the Johannesburg Reps theatre in 1961, with Heather Lloyd-Jones and British actor Brian Haines.

1961: Staged at the Alexander Theatre, directed by Hugh Goldie.

1968: Presented by the Natal Drama Group as Signpost to Murder, March 1968, directed by Herbert Creeke.
