The Normal Heart is a largely autobiographical play by American playwright Larry Kramer [1] (born 1935). It focuses on the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984, as seen through the eyes of writer/activist Ned Weeks, the gay founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group.

1988: The SA premiere performed by NAPAC's Loft Theatre Company in Durban, directed by Murray McGibbon with Chris Buchanan, Aldo Brincat.
1992: Performed at the Baxter Theatre, directed by Fred Abrahamse with Frantz Dobrowsky, Shirley Johnston and Blaise Koch.
