He founded Fletcher's Puppets, a company performing puppetry and marionette shows in and about Cape Town in 197*. His wife, Jill Fletcher was one of the puppeteers. In the early 1970s the company also mounted periodic marionette productions with their company at the Nico Malan Theatre in Cape Town, centered on their loveable character, "Mrs Em".
Tony built a puppet stage in their house, and the couple had a regular club for young people at their home, teaching them about making glove puppets, which the learners then used to put on a puppet show for their parents,.
