F.C.L. Bosman (1928) states (p.323) that he appeared in Clasius, of Het Proces om een Komedie-lootje (Boniface), on 19 July 1834, but on page 328 prints the cast list, which only contains the young man H. Ley. There is no other record of his being an actor, so possibly his role was only administrative.
For a while he was a member of Vlyt en Kunst in Cape Town (1834-35), responsible for ticket sales. Then in November 1835 he appeared to have switched loyalties and joined Kunst en Smaak in the same capacity.
