Danilo Odendaal (fl 1930s) was an actor and company manager.

Biography

Very little is known about this person, except for the fact that he was apparently the founder and leader of the many touring "mushroom" Afrikaans theatrical companies that popped up in the 1930s, and - according to Binge (1969) on one occasion in 1934 failed to turn up for a performance in the Douglas area in the Northern Cape, to the consternation of the waiting audience.

(He could possibly be the same person who is billed as D. Odendaal in articles on Volksteater, Pretoria and who played the role of "Gerrit Maritz" in the 1938 Joseph Albrecht film Die Bou van 'n Nasie.)
