The Winslow Boy is a play by Terence Rattigan [1] (1911-1977).


The original play

The award-winning play tells of a father's fight to clear his son of a charge of petty theft.

It opened in London in 1946, and on Broadway in 1947. The text was first published by Hamish Hamilton, London, 1946.


Translations and adaptations

It was adapted for radio and presented on Theatre Guild on the Air November 23, 1952.

It was also filmed twice, in 1948 and in 1999
