Gert van Tonder (1941-) is a singer, songwriter, broadcaster, composer, actor and naturopath.

Born on Bergplaas near George.
Training
He has master's degrees in psychology and metaphysics.
Career
He started out as a singer, and was for 15 years a member of the very popular Afrikaans duo Groep 2, with Sias Reinecke. He wrote a large number of songs over the years, including "Sproeitjies" and "Karnaval in Bloemfontein".
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
After leaving the group to carry on with a solo singing career, he began to concentrate more on television and film work, as well as appearing in radio dramas and stage plays. Was for 12 years the co-presenter of the popular childrens' TV programme Wielie Walie.
Acting career
Film roles include Jy is My Liefling (1968), Sien Jou More (1970), Z.E.B.R.A. (1971), Die Wit Sluier (1973), Die Rebel (1976), and Sonja (1978).
Stage roles include a role in Putsonderwater (1980) and Daa' Gaat Die Bruid! (2016)
