Hamoy (18**-18**) was apparently the stage name of a specialist pantomime, vaudeville and circus performer in the 1840s.
Referred to as "die kleine Hamoy" ("the tiny Hamoy") by F.C.L. Bosman (1928[1], pp. 436-7), he had most probably come to the Cape with the Italian Circus of Messrs Severo and Dalle Case in 1847, and then went on to work for the Dalle Case Company in 1848.
He is specifically mentioned as one of the acts in a full programme, headed by "the much admired vaudeville The Art of Avoiding to do Military Duty", performed in the Garrison Theatre, Cape Town on 13 March 1848 by the Dalle Case Company. No specifics of his act are given however.
