Cactus Flower (1969) [1] is a comedy by Abe Burrows. A dentist pretends to be married to avoid commitment, but when he falls for his girlfriend and proposes, he must recruit his lovelorn nurse to pose as his wife.

The original text
Cactus Flower is based on the French play Fleur de cactus by Pierre Barillet and Jean-Pierre Grédy.
Translations and adaptations
Adapted in 1969 for film as: Cactus Flower with Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman and Goldie Hawn (for which Hawn won an Academy Award) and again in 2010 as Just Go With It starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker.
Translated into Afrikaans by Nerina Ferreira titled As die Turksvy Blom (When the Prickly Pear Flowers). Full-length. Cast: mixed. (Available at Dalro, http://www.dalro.co.za/).
Performance history in South Africa
Presented by PACT Afrikaans Drama in the State Theatre in October 1982; PACOFS in 1983, directed by Sandra Kotzé, starring Anton Dekker, Pieter Brand, Gretha Brazelle, Rika Sennett, Elzette Maarschalk.
