(1885-1945) Medical doctor, writer, journalist and social historian. Laidler (1885-1945), was an author and medical practitioner in East London.
Born Percy Ward Laidler in **. ** He practiced as doctor and died in East London.
He was at one time editor of the SAMJ. Besides his academic writings on medical matters, which included
South Africa: its medical history 1652-1898. A medical and social study by Percy Ward Laidler and Michael Gelfand (published in Cape Town by C. Struik, 1971)
His social and historical works include:
"Hottentot and Bushman pottery of South Africa." South African Journal of Science, 1929,XXVI.
The Growth and government of Cape Town (1939)
A tavern of the ocean: being a social and historical sketch of Cape Town from its earliest days (Maskew Miller Limited, 1926);
