First performed Paris, "avec success 21 brumaire an 10", i.e. in October 1801. First published in French by Barba, Paris 1803. Published in Dutch as De Twee Vrijmetselaars in Amsterdam, 1808.

Performed in Stellenbosch on 8 November 1834 by Het Hollandsche Tooneellievend en Vereenigd Muzyk Gezelschap, with the musical comedy 't Zal laat Worden (Meyer)
