The play premiered on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on November 16, 2009 in previews, officially on December 6, 2009, closing on August 21, 2010 after 297 performances and 23 previews.


First performed in South Africa at the 2012 Grahamstown Festival with Michael Richard, Graham Hopkins and Sello Maake Ka-Ncube and Nondumiso Tembe, directed by Clare Mortimer, set and costume designs by Sarah Roberts and lighting by Mannie Manim.

Performed at the Arena Theatre at the South African State Theatre, Pretoria, in 2013, with Hlomla Dandala replacing Sello Maake Ka-Ncube.
