The South African Society Theatre Research (SASTR) was a short-lived academic association, founded in Stellenbosch in 1999 to support and promote theatre studies in the country. To this end they offered annual conferences on drama, theatre and dance hosted by the various Universities in the country.
The founding president was Stellenbosch professor Temple Hauptfleisch, followed by Professor Allan Munro .
