Dagbreek: the newspaper
The newspaper
The name was largely used as a short way to refer to the Dagbreek en Sondagnuus and later Dagbreek en Landstem (which emerged from a merger of Dagbreek en Sondagnuus with the popular Landstem in December 1967) to become an influential Afrikaans Sunday newspaper, focused on national news. It had a strong circulation in the Cape, before merging with Die Beeld in 1970 to form Rapport.

Dagbreek: a play by Wynand du Preez
The play
An Afrikaans one-act play written by Anna Neethling-Pohl (under the pseudonym Wynand du Preez), it tells the story of a member of the Boer rebellion of 1914 who was shot by a government firing squad. It parallelled the story of the real-life Gideon Scheepers.
