Dagbreek en Landstem was 'n invloedryke Afrikaanse Sondagkoerant wat in Desember 1967 ontstaan het uit die samesmelting van Dagbreek en Sondagnuus en die gewilde Landstem. Die koerant het gesentreer op nasionale nuus en het 'n sterk sirkulasie in Kaapland gehad, voordat dit in 1970 met Die Beeld saamgesmelt het om Rapport te vorm.

Dagbreek: a play by Wynand du Preez

The play

An Afrikaans one-act play written by Anna Neethling-Pohl (under the pseudonym Wynand du Preez), it tells the story of a member of the Boer rebellion of 1914 who was shot by a government firing squad. It parallelled the story of the real-life Gideon Scheepers.

Performance history in South Africa

1941: Performed by the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society in aid of the Reddingsdaadbond (a South African anti-war movement), leading to strong criticism from pro-war press. It was directed by Hermien Dommisse), and the cast included Gert van den Bergh.
