== Biography ==
 
 
 
She studied at the [[University of Stellenbosch]] in South Africa, where she completed a doctorate. Having taught at three universities in South Africa, she joined the staff of the University of Nottingham in 2006. She retired at the end of July 2020 and was made an Honorary Associate Professor in the department.
