The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) is a Schedule 3A Public entity that was established in terms of the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997, as amended, to regulate the National Lottery, Sports Pools and society lotteries, to raise funds for worthy causes. The NLC is governed by a Board appointed by the Executive Authority. The Executive Authority of the NLC is the Minister in the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
