James Montgomery, the American playwright, screenwriter, theatre producer and actor adapted Nothing But the Truth into a play which was a hit on Broadway in 1916 and which was the basis for multiple film adaptations, including the 1920 silent film Nothing But the Truth by Metro Pictures, starring Taylor Holmes and Poppy Wyndham. J. B. Pennefather adapted the play for SABC radio in 1945.

Nothing But the Truth is a 1914 comedy novel by the American writer, Frederic Stewart Isham. (March 29, 1865 – September 6, 1922).

The original text

James Montgomery, the American playwright, screenwriter, theatre producer and actor adapted Nothing But the Truth into a play which was a hit on Broadway in 1916 and which was the basis for multiple film adaptations, including the 1920 silent film Nothing But the Truth by Metro Pictures, starring Taylor Holmes and Poppy Wyndham.

Translations and adaptations

J. B. Pennefather adapted the play for radio.

Performance history in South Africa

November 15, 1945: Nothing But the Truth was broadcast over SABC's Durban and Pietermaritzburg "A" (English) radio station.
