Biography
Born and had his schooling in Hermannsburg and Damelin college, then completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (1975 - 1977).
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Starting out as a video cameraman in the SABC television department he later became Promotion Department manager, producing on-air promotions (1982 - 2005). In those years he also worked on a selection of big budget variety and drama studio productions as well as producing and directing music videos.
He left the SABC and moved to Somerset West, to work independently, inter alia as a Producer/ director with Welela Studios (2006 - 2012) and To Go Productions (2009 -) on a diverse selection of television programmes - including Treasure Hunt, Whip the Chef, Eish Aids in SA, The World Cable Wakeboarding Championships and was and aas the Cape Producer for the SABC series TalkSA, and was the Cape Producer for the SABC series TalkSA.
Movies he worked on include 'n Saak van Geloof, Durban Poison, 100 Metre Leeu Loop, Double Echo.

Hans Hecht-Wendt Growing up on the coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal, the sea, surfing and going to the local cinema on a Saturday afternoon were my major influences. After graduating from university I migrated to Johannesburg to seek my fame and fortune. After 2 years of working for the Edgars group I found my calling when I joined the fledgling tv department of the SABC.During the next 24 years, after starting as a studio cameraman I moved through various departments with various channels in different positions while working with some amazing local talent. These years in Gauteng gave me a wife, Anja, who I met at the SABC, experienced the birth of my 2 children, Myka and Kyle, and had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world. At the end of 2004 we moved to Somerset West to start a new phase of our lives. I started a pizza franchise and continued with producing and directing tv programmes.
