Peter Larlham (19**-) [1]. Actor, director, designer, university lecturer, writer.

Biography

Peter studied drama at the University of Natal, Durban, did post-graduate work at New York University’s Tisch School fo the Arts.

He was an actor for PACT (appearing in productions of The Magistrate, Hadrian the Seventh, appointed as theatre technician and taught design and acting at the University of Natal, Durban, for whom he directed The Birds in 1973. He acted in a production of An Inspector Calls in Durban in the late 1990s.

He emigrated to USA and became professor of Drama at University of California (San Diego).

His thesis, published as Black Theater, Dance, and Ritual in South Africa, is a seminal work in South African performance studies.

He is married to Margaret Larlham, choreographer and movement lecturer.
