Karen Meiring (19**-). Cultural practitioner, arts administrator, festival director.

Biography

She was born in Natal and studied at Potchefstroom University. She was married to André-Jacques van der Merwe.

Training

Career

In 1994 she became involved with the KKNK, assisting Pieter Fourie and took over as CEO in 1999 until 2007 when she became CEO of the Oude Libertas Theatre. In 2009 she moved to KykNet as head of Afrikaans channels.

She is a patron of the STAND Foundation.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

In 1992 she had a role in the PACT production of the pantomime Doringrosie (Die Slapende Skone).

She was part of the a capella group Cutt Glas.
