Gerrit Dekker (1897-1973) was a professor, translator, literary adviser and critic.


Biography

Born of Dutch parents in Pretoria, Transvaal, on 11 November 1897

He married Hendrina Gezina Huetinck in 1928 and the couple had two daughters (Trixie and Rikie) and a son, Leendert Dekker.

Passed away in Klerksdorp on 10 April 1973


He was professor of Afrikaans Literature at the University of Potchefstroom for CHE
