Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe. *** First produced in South Africa in 18**?* An Afrikaans performance of Marlowe’s play (scenes from it purposely translated in a clumsy, ponderous way), forms the climactic event in André, Temple Hauptfleisch’s play about the seduction of an actor’s soul. See also Faust by Goethe.
