The Boy Friend by Sandy Wilson. (Sometimes misspelled The Boyfriend) Hugely popular musical, a pastiche of 1920’s music, first performed internationally on January 14 1954 in London. Often produced in South Africa. The first production was at the Brooke Theatre in May 1957, starring Ivan Berold, June Hern, Shirley Hepburn, Maureen Adair and Bruce Anderson with sets and costumes by Pamela Lewis and Heather MacDonald Rouse, and msical direction by Gertrude Walsh.
