Cliff Bestall (19**-) is a lecturer, designer, director and cinematographer

Biography
He attended Jeppe High School (1958-1968), then obtained a Diploma in Graphic Design and Art, Design and printmaking from the Durban University of Technology (1966 - 1968). Then became a lecturer at the University of Cape Town (1969 - 1980), teaching video art, figure drawing, printmaking and design. In 1979 he formed Shadow Pictures, a documentary film company, inter alia working with BBC Television.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Theatre work:
Along with Adrian Kohler he did the design for Tsafendas which was staged at The Space in 1976.
Film work:
This has included Passing the Message (1981), , Djadje – Last Night I Fell Off a Horse (1993), Witness Hillbrow: Between Heaven and Hell (2012), and Sinner (2016).
