A certain Mr Charles (also referred to as Lord Newry) (fl. 1867) is mentioned as an occasional performer while in Cape Town.
This is probably a reference to Francis Charles Needham, 3rd Earl of Kilmorey KP ADC (2 August 1842 – 28 July 1915)[[1]], styled "Viscount Newry" from 1851 to 1880, and an officer in the North Shropshire Yeomanry Cavalry and later politician.[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Needham,_3rd_Earl_of_Kilmorey
