Percy Ould (1868-1913) was a Cape Town violinist and music teacher.

Biography

He performed in concerts together with the conductor Theophil Wendt (1874-1951)[1], and was responsible, with Wendt, for organizing music for the Grahamstown Exhibition of Arts and Crafts (end of 1898 – beginning of 1899), By 1900 he was considered the principal violin teacher in Cape Town.

The Percy Ould Memorial Prize is awarded by the Music Department at the University of Cape Town.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He was one of the solo participants in the Bloemfontein Flood Benefit (a matinee benefit performance for the sufferers in the disastrous flood in Bloemfontein), put on in the Cape Town Opera House on 28 January, 1904, by a company brought together for the purpose by Grant Fallowes.
