He is cited by [[William Groom|Groom]] (1899-1900) as one of two painters of renown who had painted "the scenery, drop-act, etc" for [[Sefton Parry]]'s  new season in the refurbished [[Cape Town Theatre]] (1859-1960). The other painter mentioned was [[Mr Gates}].
