Played for the first time at the Public Hall, Ealing on 26 March 1887 and at the Comedy Theatre, Manchester, on Monday, 24 September 1858.

Performance history in South Africa
1889: Presented by Luscombe Searelle and his company in the Exhibition Theatre, Cape Town, as part of a season of plays featuring the visiting comedian Lionel Brough that opened opening on 26 August. Despite Brough's excellence as comedian, much of the season was poorly attended, probably due to the unsuitability of the venue for that kind of fare.
