The Sowetan is an English-language South African daily newspaper that started in 1981 as a liberation struggle publication.
It has since gone digital as well with the online paper Sowetan LIVE published by Arena Holdings (formerly Tiso Blackstar Group) in Johannesburg, which serves as the website of The Sowetan.
Until August 2019, the SowetanLIVE website also published content from the weekly celebrity news and gossip tabloid Sunday World.
