Harm Oost (1877-1964) was a journalist, playwright and actor.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

A close friend of Gustav Preller, he became an important member of the Afrikaans-Hollandse Toneelvereniging (AHTV) and author of its first-performed play and firm favourite, Ou Daniël (Ou' Daniel : oorspronkelik Afrikaans toneelspelletje), which he wrote in 1906 in anticipation of the association’s establishment.
