The original text
A play developed in rehearsal by the author and others, it tells the story of the relationship between Eugene, a very fair-skinned black man, and Alma, a large dark-skinned woman. After playing at several regional theatres over the first half of 2002, the play finally premiered Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club on 1 October, 2002, closing on 15 December, 2002 - directed by Blanka Zizka with Dael Orlandersmith (as "Alma") and Howard W. Overshown (as "Eugene").

2008: A Theatre Bazaar production was directed by Lara Bye in 2008. Performed at KKNK and Baxter Theatre that year and at the Market Theatre in early 2009. Starring David Johnson, Mwenya Kabwe. Lighting design by Faheem Bardien. Design by Leila Anderson. Stage manager Jon Keevy.
