Sadako is a puppet play by Peter Hayes, based on the life of Sadako who at 2yrs of age survived the Hiroshima atom bomb, but at ten developed leukaemia.
Performance history in South Africa
2011: Produced in 2011 by the Hearts & Eyes Theatre Collective, directed by Jaqueline Dommisse with puppet design by Janni Younge. This production was the winner of the Handspring Puppet Company Award - Best Puppet Production 2011.
2013: In 2013 once more put on at the Baxter Flipside from 30 July – 10 August 2013, then travelled to the World Festival of Puppet Theatre in Charleville-Mézières, France, with Roshina Ratnam as Sadako.
