Johnny Clegg. (1953-2019). Composer, musician and singer.

A former lecturer in ethnology, Clegg has had an enormous influence on South African popular music and culture, with his crossover South African music.

As an anthropologist, he wrote a number of articles and paper on aspects of the indigenous cultural forms, including "Towards an understanding of African Dance: The Zulu Isishameni Style" (1981).

His song "Great Heart" was the title song for the 1988 film of Jock of the Bushveld as well as additional music for the animated film Jock the Hero Dog (2011).

He died in Johannesburg on 16 July 2019 at the age of 66.
