First performed in England at the Grand Theatre, Islington on 13 December, 1897 and then opened at the Adelphi Theatre, London, on the 21st January, 1898. Became a standard piece for the [[Potter-Bellew Company]], with Bellew in the role of "Marat".

Charlotte Corday is a play by Kyrle Bellew (1855-1911)[1]

The original text

First performed at the Corinthian Theatre, Calcutta, India. Opened at the Herald Square Theatre in New York City Mar 25, 1895. First performed in England at the Grand Theatre, Islington on 13 December, 1897 and then opened at the Adelphi Theatre, London, on the 21st January, 1898. Became a standard piece for the Potter-Bellew Company, with Bellew in the role of "Marat".

Performance history in South Africa

1892: Performed in Cape Town by the the Potter-Bellew Company, with Cora Brown-Potter as "Charlotte" and Bellew as "Marat".

1907: Performed by the Cora Brown-Potter company under the Wheeler management with A.G. Poulton as "Marat".
