R.W. Murray was a Senator and theatre enthusiast.


Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

The Cape Town Theatrical Club (later to become the Cape Town Dramatic Club) was founded under his auspices at Mr Welch's residence in Buitekant Street, Cape Town, in 1857 or 1858. He was the first President of the club.
