Anja Huismans is a drama lecturer and researcher.
She studied drama theory at the University of Stellenbosch, and became a lecturer in the Drama Department there for a while, specializing in theories of drama and theatre. In this period she completed a Masters Degree in 2005 with a thesis entitled "A Just and Lively Image" - Performance in Neo-classic Theatre Criticism and Theory.
She later moved to Hermanus with her husband and child.
Her most cited published work is an interview with playwright Reza de Wet, undertaken in collaboration with Juanita Finestone. This was originally published in 1995 as "Interview with Reza de Wet" in the South African Theatre Journal, 9(1):89-95, and re-published in 1999 as "Interview: Exploring the Masculine Within" in Contemporary Theatre Review, 9(1):57.
