Biography
He was born in Bethlehem, Free State, South Africa.
His career as lighting engineer started in 1932. He was responsible for lighting during the inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument [1] in 1949. His last position, after a very long career, was as resident lighting electrician at the Civic Theatre, Johannesburg. Harry died at the end of January 1992.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He worked in this capacity for the NTO.
He did the lighting for theatre productions such as I Remember Mama, Die Ryk Weduwee, Minna von Barnhelm, Oedipus Rex, She Stoops to Conquer, Pop Goes the Queen.
